How to crop an image inside Smartscene

To crop out a part of an image to use in your Smartscene design, following these steps:

Step 1:

Log into your Smartscene account and launch the editor

Step 2:

Upload an image from your computer. Your can also import from a url or add one from the Smartscene images integration. Your image must be in a PNG or JPG file format.

Step 3:

Once the image is in your canvas, click on the image to select it, then use the drag and drop points on the 4 edges of the image to scale up the size.

Tip: This is because, depending on your canvas size, any asset added to the canvas is automatically scaled down, to some percentage, to make it fit in. You want to scale the image up to reveal it properly for selection.

Step 4:

Leave the image selected, click on the camera icon from the top editor menu and then select a portion on the image you want to crop.

Tip: You can do this by clicking on the image at one point, holding down the mouse at that point and dragging to the other point until the portion is covered. When you let go the selected area will be highlighted. Also, notice that the camera icon you just clicked turned into the normal cropping icon.

Step 5:

Click on the cropping icon from the top menu. This crops out the selected portion instantly.
